Freedom to Think

High Places

Wiping down the worktop, cleaning away the mess, a man of little means attempts to cure distress

A kiss of lovers many and few walking a gay gait, enriched for a time and lifted up in a hallowed state

And raindrops dripping slowly, artful from a ledge, from the night before cleansing all they touch

I see these things I touch them, they in turn my soul, feel them on my journey add them to my goal

SCROLL DOWN

A'wash a fishing boat shoals through rising falling crests

And men a'mighty strain each sinew casting and pulling nets

And fish dart hither, and spray and salt, and powerful forces enrapture all

Whilst back on land a child plays, perhaps a small wood boat

Carved and sold for merest pennies, long hid in his mother's coat

Imagination casts his rod, and colours his day's play

Reality is there to check with if games should go awry

And in a tree a bird sings song and leaves gentle flutter

Calmness and serenity to be found in the clutter

And in another world a calf starts life and trembles

legs all shakey, coat of down, its first day assembles

Poetry is finer and more philospohical than history, for poetry expresses the universal and history only the particular ..... Aristotle
